Joe Carey has been a key figure at Carey Group since 1985, bringing expertise in commerce, business, law, and accounting to help clients achieve their financial goals. He became a Partner in 1988 and was appointed Chairman in 2021, strengthening his leadership within the firm. As a long-time Townsville local, Joe is deeply invested in the region’s prosperity, serving as a Director of Townsville Enterprise Limited and Deputy Chairman of both the Cowboys Leagues Club and the Cowboys Rugby League Football Club. He also leads the Cowboys Group Audit, Finance and Investment Committee and the Project Leadership Group, which advocates for major infrastructure projects like the Hells Gates Dam. Joe’s passion for long-term growth and community success defines his approach to both business and life.

Matthew’s journey with Carey Group began in 2002, when he joined the firm while still completing his secondary school studies. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Commerce from James Cook University in 2007, and over the years, has built a strong and loyal client base across the Agribusiness, Farming, and Business sectors. In 2016, Matthew was admitted as a Partner, and today he also serves as the firm’s Chief Financial Officer. His deep understanding of regional industries and long-standing relationships with clients reflect his commitment to both the profession and the community. Matthew’s story is a great example of how Carey Group supports career growth and fosters leadership from within.

Daniel joined us in 2008 as a Financial Planner and became a Partner in 2016. With expertise in wealth creation, retirement planning, and investment strategy for self-managed super funds, he works with a diverse range of clients including business owners, medical professionals, and high-net-worth individuals. Dan’s approach is always strategic and tailored, and he’s known for his commitment to going above and beyond. The best advice he’s ever received and one he lives by is, “Never accept a negative outcome for a client without turning over every stone possible and possibly ruffling a few feathers along the way.” It’s this dedication, combined with his deep industry knowledge and client-first mindset, that keeps clients coming back year after year.

Peter joined Carey Group in 1993 as a graduate accountant after completing a Bachelor of Commerce at James Cook University. He left the firm in 2001 to broaden his experience across a wide range of industries, developing his expertise in accountancy and taxation. Peter returned to Carey Group in 2015 and was admitted as a Partner in 2016. He has since built a strong client base across the Real Estate, Housing and Construction, and Business sectors, known for his practical approach and deep industry insight. Peter’s diverse experience and commitment to client success make him a trusted advisor across the region.

Nikeeta began her professional journey with Carey Group in 2002 as a Graduate Accountant, working closely with Robert Carey in our Ingham office. She completed her university studies at James Cook University, graduating as a Certified Practising Accountant and a Justice of the Peace (Qualified). Over the years, Nikeeta has built a strong and loyal client base across Agribusiness, Farming, and Business sectors, known for her dedication, attention to detail, and client-first approach. Her commitment to excellence and long-term relationships led to her admission as a Partner in 2016, where she continues to play a key role in delivering tailored advice and supporting regional success.

Greg is a born and bred Cairns local who began his career in the building industry, spending four years as a qualified Carpenter before transitioning into Accountancy in 2004. He founded his own accounting firm in 2011, building a strong client base across the Housing and Construction and Business sectors, before merging with Carey Group in late 2021. Greg was admitted as a Partner that same year and now plays a key role in supporting clients with practical, industry-informed advice. His deep connection to the Cairns region and hands-on experience make him a trusted advisor to local businesses. Greg’s commitment to community and regional development is reflected in his professional approach and long-standing relationships.

Matt moved to Townsville with his family in 2017, bringing over 15 years of executive experience in global organisations, including roles as Chief Financial Officer and Managing Partner. He joined Carey Group to establish the Business Advisory division and was appointed Managing Partner in July 2019, leading the firm through a period of strategic growth. In 2024, Matt transitioned to become Chief Executive Officer of Moore Australia (QLD/NNSW), where he now leads a team across six offices. Through a joint venture between Moore and Carey Group, he continues to play a key role in driving regional impact, strategic transformation, and client success.

Robert commenced with the Carey Group in 1972. He completed his Bachelor of Business degree in Rockhampton in 1976 and was admitted as partner in that same year. With 50 years of experience Robert has built a strong client base across the Agribusiness, Farming and Business sectors.
